2023 November and December Update Letter

Dear Friends,

It has been over 2 months since we arrived in the Solomons. We have experienced many new things and are slowly adapting to the heat. Douglas loves going to the market and seeing all the pineapples and avocados which are two of his favorite things. Both he and George  make lots of friends everywhere they go.

The Lord has been so good in giving us contacts here who have helped us find a house in Auki, Malaita.  The last week of November, I took a week-long trip to Malaita and was able to begin to familiarizing myself with Auki. I was also able to confirm a rental house for the family.

Work permit and visas have been approved and all of our passports have been stamped. We are officially allowed to stay for the next two years in the Solomon Islands. Melodie and I also got our drivers license. On January 9th our car arrived from Japan and it has been all registered and moved via ship over to Auki, Malaita.

We are slowly picking up on the language. Going around town gives us many opportunities to practice language learning.

The holidays were very different this year. The weather was warm and sunny. Christmas Day was not what we are used to, but, we rejoice that we are here in the Solomons to be a light for the gospel of Jesus Christ. God has been working in so many little details and it very evident that there are many brothers and sisters praying for us.

Please pray on our behalf regarding the following:

  • That we will adapted to living in a new culture.

  • That all of us will learn and understand the language.

  • That we will be able to find a suitable place to meet in Auki.

Constrained by Love,

The Lee Family
